How does PRTG recognize manufacturers?

Votes:

After adding device with auto-discovery, I can see that a word indicating an manufacturer such as HP, Cisco, Dell appended to the existing name

Too often this information does not match the actual device.

Here is an example. Although it is the HP DL20 server, it is misrecognized as a Cisco Device. ------------------------------------------------------------------- WIN-0FJ4N08JMC7(192.168.0.205) [Cisco Device IIS] -------------------------------------------------------------------

Which OID does PRTG collect with?

auto-discovery device device-name

Hello Jonathan,

PRTG compare the received results from the scan of the OIDs with an internal database. In some cases manufacturers are using same OIDs, so it could be possible that there are some wrong matches.

Samsung M453x Series [Cisco Device HP Printer]
