I would like to set dependencies for multiple devices [and their sensors] to the ping sensor of the device. The said ping sensors are set under the device groups. Is there a way to add this for all the device groups at once, instead of individually selecting the ping sensor to be the "master for the parent device"

I have to tell you that setting dependencies via multi-edit is not possible. Please take a look at this Knowledge-Base article for more information.
