We are testing PRTG on the alcatel SWITCHEs. We want to monitor STP...your network has redundant links and we want to be warned if the UPLINK FAILS.

Last week, one of the ACTIVE UPLINKS failed but STP did not work because the STANDBY FIBER LINK (on STP) that was supposed to be redundant was broken to.

Is there way to detect failling uplinks... not just for the active ports on STP but for de standby ports? how to implement...we have more or less 96 switches and we want to monitor some critical devices on the them to

ping-sensor prtg-network-monitor uplink

It's possible that their MIB files expose these metrics, but it's likely not possible with the SNMP Traffic Sensor alone. You may want to check with Alcatel to retrieve their MIB files and then use our MIB Importer and the SNMP Library Sensor to monitor the appliance with the help of the imported MIB :)
