Analysys of ping responses

Votes:

Folks, I have been using PRTG for years and have utilized it for resolving an untold numbers of issues. Currently I am seeing a response on a sensor for ping time on one of my client's data circuits which I have never seen before and was wondering if anyone has seen this or can explain what may be happening.

Every Ping sensor I have used across years of analysis has always shown a latency increase in all Ping responses when bandwidth utilization goes up significantly on cable circuit. On this one circuit however, I am now seeing Ping Time completely disappear from my graphs when bandwidth utilization spikes. I do continue to see minimum and maximum times increase normally, but the pure Ping Time completely disappears. This particular client is multi-homed on a single router and I am not seeing the same responses on the other interface. I am also not seeing that on any other of the many Ping sensors I maintain across my customer base. I am trying to determine if the problem is the CPE from the ISP (Comcast modem) or possibly a bad interface on the client's router.

Your input and experience is greatly appreciated.
