Hi
We have Checkpoint devices where SNMP Version 3 supports only SHA256 and SHA512. Does PRTG support these SHA versions? If not - are there plans to support them in future versions?
Thanks'

Hello,

Starting with version 23.2.84 PRTG now supports additional ciphers for SNMP v3. PRTG now supports the following encryption methods for SNMP v3 communication in the Credentials for SNMP Devices settings: AES192 and AES256 (Advanced Encryption Standard), SHA-224, SHA-256, SHA-384 and SHA-512 (Secure Hash Algorithms). Previously we only supported AES128 for encryption. Source: https://www.paessler.com/prtg/history/stable for version 23.2.84.1566

We wish happy monitoring.

Kind regards,

Hello there,

I am afraid that, currently, PRTG does not support SHA 256 and SHA 512. Our Dev team exploring this but currently we do not have any timeframe when it will be available.

Regards,

This is pretty disappointing; I had a Proof of Concept implementation of several dozen enterprise Check Point firewalls that I've been talking to our management about purchasing PRTG to monitor, and additional licensing. Now, I'll have to tear all of that out, decomm the servers I built, and start the search for a new product that supports security protocols that are more recent than 17 years old. Paessler, I really loved your platform and I have no idea what the challenges are to updating the protocols in your product, but I can tell you with complete conviction that if you don't keep pace with this, there will be a lot more and a lot bigger clients ripping your product out of their environments. Either run with the pack, or die like a dinosaur, am I right?

Hello there,

We totally understand how important of these algorithm. Our Developers already aware about it and they working on it. Unfortunately, I don't have an ETA when this will come.

Hi, the plan is to release this feature by the end of this year/ beginning of the next. Our teams are working on it at the moment.

Hi, is there any update on that issue? The missing support of SHA256 is creating big gaps in the monitoring of my infrastructure. Maybe there is pre release available somewhere?

it has been almost two years since this post was first started, requesting support for SHA256 for SNMP

Is there any ETA on when this will become available? It's to the point, due to audit findings, that we will have to stop using PRTG and implement something that supports SHA256, i.e. Entuity/Spectrum.

Please advise when this will be available!!!
