Port Down/Disconnected Alert

Votes:

I am trying to generate alerts for ports down/disconnected on a Fortigate Firewall. All my SNMP sensors are working and I can initiate a down state on the port that then reflects in PRTG. What I need to know is where is the global setting to set the "Connection Status Handling" to show down as the default on devices added is "Ignore all disconnected states".

I also want to find out the best way to monitor actual Internet connectivity. So for example the port is up (a device is on and the port in the FW is live) but there's no actual Internet connectivity.

Hi there,

The setting is only located in the "Settings" tab of the corresponding Sensor. Therefore, you would need to change this via the multi edit feature of PRTG: https://www.paessler.com/manuals/prtg/multi_edit_lists
You can list all traffic Sensors e.g. via "Sensors > By Type > S... > SNMP Traffic" in the PRTG Web Interface.
For all future Sensors, you can create a device template which stores the setting und then use the device template with the Auto Discovery to create new Sensors.
