When I added a device and look into 'comment' tab, some information about the device was automatically entered. How does PRTG collect this information? Please let me know the OID for this that PRTG collects.

Below are the contents on 'comment' tab of the device.

Hello Jonathan,

Thank you for your message.

Regarding the Comments tab of each object (sensors, devices, groups, etc.), PRTG doesn't provide any information in it. Here is the corresponding manual: https://www.paessler.com/manuals/prtg/devices_enterprise_console#comments

Have you created a new device or duplicated an existing one ? If it's a duplicated device, I invite you to check the Comments tab of the original device.

In case this is a new device, please check the logs of the webserver under "C:\ProgramData\Paessler\PRTG Network Monitor\Logs\webserver" to make sure that the API hasn't been used to add the comment.

Regards.

Hello Michele,

Thank you for your message.

The Auto-Discovery effectively adds information in the Comments tab of the devices, as mentioned in this KB article: https://kb.paessler.com/en/topic/34203-how-do-i-monitor-system-info-such-as-location-name-contact

During the creation of the devices, PRTG tries to get information from them via SNMP/WMI such as Model and System, before storing them in the Comments tab. This Kb article might help in this regard: https://kb.paessler.com/en/topic/87734-how-does-prtg-collect-system-information-tables

Regards.
