How to set purge for syslog sensor

I have an question about a purge option of syslog sensor.

I can specify a value in the Sensor settings: 'Syslog Specific' -> 'Purge Messages After'. Does purge work only by this setting?

Does this value work independently of the setting: 'System Administration' -> 'Historic Data Purging'?

historical-data purge syslog syslog-sensor

Hello Jonathan,

Thank you for your message.

The setting Purge Messages After allows to remove after a certain period the syslog messages received by the Syslog Receiver sensor. These messages are not stored in the historic data of the sensor compared to its channels, therefore only that sensor will be affected.

However, modifying the setting Historic Data Purging will remove the data of all sensors configured in PRTG.

If you have further questions, let me know.

Regards.
