What is the Redfish standard and which vendors support it?

In 2021, we introduced the Redfish Power Supply sensor, the Redfish System Health sensor, and the Redfish Virtual Disk sensor.

Redfish Scalable Platforms Management API (Redfish)

The Redfish standard was developed in 2014 as a replacement for IPMI. Redfish provides a RESTful interface for server, network, and storage management, for example in industrial IT environments. Many vendors support the Redfish standard. If you want to know if your systems support Redfish, we recommend that you refer to the respective vendor documentation.

Here are some examples for servers that support Redfish:

ServerRequirements (minimum firmware version)Requirements to use Redfish sensors
Cisco Integrated Management Controller (IMC)IMC software 3.0-
Dell iDRAC BMC• iDRAC 7: firmware 2.40.40.40
• iDRAC 8: firmware 2.40.40.40
• iDRAC 9: firmware 3.00.00.00

IBM Power Systems Flexible Service Processor (FSP)Firmware version FW860.20-
Lenovo XClarity Controller (XCC) BMCXCC firmware 1.00-
Supermicro BMC• X10: FW 3.0
• X11: FW 1.0
• X10 with Redfish IPMI firmware below 3.58: SFT-DCMS-Single license
• X10 with Redfish IPMI firmware 3.58 or above: SFT-OOB-LIC license
• X11: SFT-OOB-LIC license

Note: In some cases, the IPMI solution on Supermicro X10 series systems only allows passwords with a maximum length of 19 characters.
