AD Integration - cannot see some pre-existing AD groups or newly created Groups

Votes:

We recently installed PRTG on it's own server, and followed the instructions for Active Directory Integration. We had a pre-existing PRTG_Admins group, in the same OU container as another group, however, when attempting to add the PRTG_Admins group, it was not visible, but the other group was.

We attempted then to create a new group PRTGUsers. We used the Administration tool to clear the cache, but was unable to locate the new AD Group.

The groups are still in a drop-down, but I read in another post when there are too many AD Groups it would switch to a "normal input field."

Please advise next steps to resolve this issue.

thank you

Hello,

Thank you for your message.

In the latest versions, there is indeed an issue with the automatic replacement of the dropdown list to the input field allowing to write down the name of the AD group to use. A case has been opened to the development team about this issue.

Nevertheless, I invite you to follow the steps below to force the replacement of the list:

  • Open the registry editor
  • Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Paessler\PRTG Network Monitor\Server\Core
  • Create a new DWORD key "ADForceGroupInputField" with value set to 1
  • Restart the Core service under PRTG Administrator Tool > Service Start/Stop.

If you have questions, let us know.

Regards.
