alert when Load Balancer with Dynamic IP Address changes

Hi, I was trying to use prtg to monitor a couple of AWS Load Balancers so when the IP Address changes, I would get an alert.

Right now I am using a DNS v2 monitor, and it is scanning the load balancer, and returning the two IP addresses, but I would like to be alerted if one or both changes, is this possible?

aws dns ip load-balancer

Hello Todd,

The DNS v2 sensor will return the error message as soon as the name is resolved to an IP address which is not part of the sensor configuration. The Change trigger does not exist for this sensor type I'm afraid.

You could possibly deploy two separate DNS sensors, one for each possible IP address. Then, if the load balancer switches the interfaces, one of these will go down while the other gets up and trigger notifications according to your needs.

If you do not want to have the sensor persist in the error state, you can automatically acknowledge it as well, this is described here.

Hope this helps!
