Azure supports one-way and two-way sms support using the Azure Communication Service:

Currently, I use a python script to initialize an sms from PRTG and it works for the most part, however it's not elegant and does not fully integrated with PRTG.

My REQUEST, is to add Azure Communication Service as a native SMS alerting option within PRTG.
