SNMP Physcial Disk Sensor Issue

Votes:

Having difficulty with the Physical Disk Sensor only at this point. I've added several other SNMP sensors without issue but am having problems with the physical disk sensor on a Dell r750 w/Server 2016 with OpenManage v.10.2.0.

I get...

Sorry, the scan for available monitoring items has failed!

Could not create the SNMP Dell PowerEdge Physical Disk sensor on device SERVERNAME (xxx.xxx.2.220).

The sensor could not find any disks on the monitored device. The reason might be a Windows security feature that prevents automatic integration of the Windows SNMP agent with the components from IBM. To resolve this issue, see https://kb.paessler.com/en/topic/73914. (code: PE188)

Doing a walk with an OID from another web site results in...

Benjamin,

As you can see, it never gets past the walk statement line. It's worth noting that we have 13 other Dell servers that work just fine with SNMP sensors.

Thanks, Steve

Steve,

Is the target IP the iDRAC or the OS? If it's the OS, does this server have OMSA installed, and the SNMP Service enabled in Windows?

The target IP is the OS. OMSA 10.2.0 is installed and SNMP is enable. We just upgraded OpenManage on two Dell servers this morning and now the physical disk sensors that were working aren't now.

Can someone help verify the it is the new OMSA causing the problem???

Thanks, Steve

Steve,

At this stage, it would appear Dell has made some changes to the OMSA at this version based on what I was able to find in the SNMP Reference Guide for version 10.2. Can you try to walk 1.3.6.1.4.1.674.10892.1, and let me know if you get output? This is the top level OID mentioned, so you need to get a reply from this. If it doesn't reply, you need to contact Dell for support on getting SNMP to respond. If it does respond, please open a support ticket, and send us the response so we can test it against our current sensor code.

Benjamin, Thanks for the input. Based on the data for...

1.3.6.1.4.1.674.10892.1

----------------------- New Test -----------------------
Paessler SNMP Tester - 20.2.4 Computername: JMAP-MONITOR Interface: (172.20.1.xx)
3/3/2022 11:06:02 AM (1 ms) : Device: 172.20.1.2xx
3/3/2022 11:06:02 AM (4 ms) : SNMP v2c
3/3/2022 11:06:02 AM (5 ms) : Walk 1.3.6.1.4.1.674.10892.1
3/3/2022 11:06:08 AM (6044 ms) : Error: -2003

It looks like we'll be opening a ticket with Dell.
