Will the mail roundtrip sensors support OAUTH in the future?

Votes:

Microsoft 365 has been planning to eliminate basic authentication in its email services for a few years now, and they are currently on track for that to occur in October of this year.

Here's their most recently blog post on the matter: https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/exchange-team-blog/basic-authentication-deprecation-in-exchange-online-may-2022/ba-p/3301866

Will PRTG add support for Modern Authentication (OAUTH) in its various mail sensors in the future?

For example the SMTP&IMAP Round Trip and SMTP&POP3 Round Trip sensors https://www.paessler.com/manuals/prtg/smtp_imap_round_trip_sensor https://www.paessler.com/manuals/prtg/smtp_pop3_round_trip_sensor

imap oauth pop3

Hello,
I'm sorry, the following still applies: Instead of using the IMAP Sensor you can now use the new M365 Mailbox Sensor when using M365. For the Roundtrip sensor however we currently do not have any alternative so it's indeed not possible to use it with M365 anymore. We keep track on all feature requests to possibly change the sensor in the future, however there are currently no plans yet.

Hello,
Yes, this is currently being worked on. There's no exact ETA yet, most likely it will however be implemented soon in one of the next PRTG versions.

Any ETA? Microsoft disables basic authentication on the 1st of Ocrober. So 14 days left.

HI,

I is very helpful to have a Roundtrip sensor with a M365 Account as destination with OAUTH too. Please put on your feature request with prio.

The Roundtrip sensor ist extremly important to monitor mailflows for our customers. With on-prem Exchange that was perfect. But now while lot of customers move to O365 with their mailboxes, the roundtrip sensor needs the modern authentication feature of O365 asap.

any update on this, since MS now turned-off the protocol for using imap on our tenant...

Today we turned off Basic Authentication for POP3, IMAP4, Remote PowerShell, Exchange Web Services, Offline Address Book, MAPI, RPC and Exchange ActiveSync protocol in your tenant.

We have previously communicated this change via Message Center: MC191153 on 9/20/19, MC204828 on 2/26/20, MC208814 on 4/6/2020, MC23771 on 2/4/2021, MC375736 on 5/4/2022 and most recently in the Basic Authentication – All Protocols Message Center post sent approximately 7 days ago.

5 months later...anything yet? It seems a bit crazy to not have this option yet, forcing us to look at alternative to PRTG, sorry.
