Changing the monitoring method in PRTG

Hey folks,

So we just did a hardening exercise using the CIS standards WIN 2019, which disables PING (ICMP) responses. THis now seems to have affected the monitoring of the systems, as now they show that the PING responses are not being received for those systems and PRTG is reporting them as down / unavailable.

Is there a way to change this to another type of monitoring? Say SNMP or WMI to show up status of a server so that we can keep monitoring the systems. I'm wondering if PING monitoring is just the Out of Box default monitoring.

Thanks

Hello,

Thanks for contacting us.

For network connectivity I can only think of Ping sensor but if you would like to monitor the Uptime you can use WMI/SNMP sensors.

Hope this helps.
