Notification Trigger Settings

Hi,

we are using Tags to automatically add our important Devices to specific Librarys wich generate SMS / Mail Alerts. But now and then, some of the sensors in a device don´t need the same settings as the others. Then I change the settings for this specific sensor from "Inherit all triggers from parent objects and use the triggers defined above" to "Only use the triggers defined above". But as i noticed, the change won´t work. The Sensor still uses the inherited notification settings from the tag.

Does someone has the same problem? I´ve already updated our PRTG to the newest available version but with the same behavior.

Best Regards Marc

Hello Marc,
This behavior is as expected: The inheritance settings only apply to notification triggers which are inherited by the device tree. For instance: If you configure notification triggers in the settings of the parent group, it will be inherited if you choose the option "Inherit all triggers from parent objects and use the triggers defined above".

Triggers configured in libraries always apply even if you select "Only use the triggers defined above". If you want to disable them, you'll need to remove the corresponding tag.

Okay... so we would have to set the Tag directly on the Sensors that we want to alert and not on Device level. Because it's also not possible to remove the inherited Tag from the Sensors in the Device...

Yes, I'm afraid in this case you'll need to set the Tag directly on the sensors instead of using the Device level. I'm afraid there's no other workaround - Sorry!
