Does PRTG have a PORTSCAN process enabled by default?

Votes:

We currently have a problem with our PRTG installation.

We are receiving false alarms (error ping) in the PRTG because the probes are being blocked by a firewall that we have in some devices in our network.

Those firewalls are detecting that some PRTG probes are performing a PORTSCAN.

Does PRTG have a PORTSCAN process enabled by default? If that's the case, how can we disable it?

ping portscan prtg

Hi MDS,

As a Network Monitoring Solution, PRTG communicates over a variety of ports to other devices. So it depends on the sensor types you added to PRTG. PRTG also comes with the auto-discovery, in which device templates are used. These templates, as well as multiple sensors do during the initial creation, will check if different ports required are available on the target host to ensure that the sensor works.

Next to this, you can disable the Sensor Recommendation as well as the System Information Feature.

The best way would be to check what ports are mentioned in the report of your firewall, since then you can get an idea what sensors might be used for that.

Kind regards,

Hello

I Disable those features, and it works!

The firewall stopped to block the PRTG probes.

Thanks for the help
