Inquiry Regarding Device Monitoring

Votes:

0

Hello

I've a few questions regarding the monitoring of certain devices and was hoping to get some advice.

  1. What are some common/recommended/important sensors used to monitor Switches, Routers, Firewalls and Servers? I've listed out ping, CPU load, memory, disk space and port sensors.
  2. Is it possible to perform Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) or anything similar within PRTG?

Thank you in advance!

Hello Justin,

Thank you for contacting PRTG support.

In order to answer your questions, first of all depending of the device you want to monitor, here you have the List of available sensors including their category, the version they were introduced in, their performance impact, IP version, meta-scan capability, device template capability, notification triggers, and what they monitor.

PRTG has no plugin or SIEM-based integration to send data directly to SIEM. You could use PRTG's API to request data and feed it to SIEM if that helps you: https://www.paessler.com/manuals/prtg/application_programming_interface_api_definition

Beside that there is no real option to achieve that.

Regards

Good news! With March 18th 2025 - Version 25.1.104.1946 we introduced SIEM integration! For details, please see our Release Notes page (look for "Audit Log").
