Is there a way to limit scans?

So it appears that an auto-discovery scan automatically includes ALL management protocols (ICMP, WMI, SNMP, etc for credentials entered), but is there no way to limit the scans to disable some or limit the scope of the scanning? I've used other products that allow some to be disabled, resulting in a faster and more efficient scanning process.

For example, if I just wanted to scan a subnet with only PING, or if I wanted to scan only for all versions of SNMP at once to see what devices might be out of compliance, that doesn't seem possible. Worse, I have some devices that are very temperamental and the NIC will malfunction if advanced port mapping or non-supported protocols are used to scan them, rendering them disconnected until it reboots.

It appears I have to actually use alternatives like NMAP to find the devices using ping, then manually load them into the server. Am I missing something?

discovery ping snmp wmi

Hello MOJO64,

Thank you for your post, currently you can create a Device Template to narrow down the amount of Protocols used https://www.paessler.com/manuals/prtg/create_device_template

Then you can right click on the group where the devices will be and create an Auto Discovery group with a template and select how often it runs: https://www.paessler.com/manuals/prtg/auto_discovery
