PRTG and Monitoring SQL 2107 databases

Hi, I am new to PRTG and have got stuck with a problem trying to monitor our SQL 2017 databases. Basically it doesn't matter what we do we cannot find any sensor that will list the databases and allow us to monitor them . We were assured PRTG can but cannot find how. I have added the SQL Server (MSSQLSERVER) General Statistics sensor but that only gives logins/logouts and user connections.

mssqlserver prtg windows-server

Hi,

At first, we'd need to know what exact metrics you'd like to monitor? It basically boils down to retrieving these metrics via a query and then have PRTG interpret the result or result table, depending on what you're getting back. If we know the metrics, I can check if there is an existing query [from another case] that may suit your use case :)

Best,
Stephan
