Different user (alarm) notifications

Not really sure how to properly formulate question, i have 2 groups A and B and i have 2 Servers C and D with multiple sensors E and F. Each group has multiple users I would to achieve following scenario: Group A (admins) get alarm notification for all servers and all sensors. This is currently working without any issue. Group B gets alarm notification for Server B only and F only sensor. This is currently not working as user is receiving notifications for all servers and all sensors.

Thank you for using PRTG.

Yes, it is possible to divide which devices alerts will be sent to which User group (A&B) using PRTG Notification templates. Let us assume you already have groups of devices you want to assign these templates.

To achieve this, you can create Notification Templates in PRTG and assign them to group of devices C, D and E, F and also groups of users A&B. Kindly follow these steps below:

  • Create a new Notification Template by going to "Setup" > "Account Settings" > "Notification Templates" > "Add Notification Template".
  • Configure the "Notification Template" according to your requirements, such as the "Notification Summarization", "User Group Access", the preferred method of notification and hit "Create".
  • Click on the "Devices" tab and then "Notification" Triggers settings.
  • Configure the "Notification Trigger" according to your requirements, such as "Add State Trigger", assign the template accordingly, and hit "Create".
  • Choose, configure and Assign the "Notification Template" to the devices accordingly as desired and hit the blue tick to save.
  • Repeat the above steps to create additional notification triggers for the other group B. PRTG will determine which notification trigger(s) to send the alert to between group A&B. You may like to visit this manual on Notification Templates PRTG Manual: Notification Templates
