Hello Wally,
To achieve that, we recommend you use Device Templates and run it as Auto-discovery with Template.
Step-by-step to create Device Template and Run Auto-Discovery with Template:
1. Login to your PRTG web interface.
2. Go to the Device tab. Add a new device and add the sensors required.
3. To create a device template, right-click on the new device that you have added the required sensors.
4. From the Device Context Menu, select Create Device Template to open the Create Device Template dialog.
5. Enter the Template Name. You also may select the sensor you want to exclude here.
6. Click OK to save your settings. If you close the dialog without saving, all changes to the settings are lost.
7. Next, add the device that you want to run Auto-Discovery and right-click on the device.
8. Click on Auto-Discovery and select Run Auto-discovery with Template.
9. Search or select your device template that has been created by clicking on the check box. Then, click on the OK button.
- The sensor in the device template should now be added accordingly to the device.
Note:
- In the device template, PRTG saves all relevant sensor settings except for settings that you set on other objects, such as schedules, notification triggers, and access rights. PRTG automatically sets these settings to inherited settings.
- Once a device template is created, it is not possible to add additional sensors to it via the PRTG web interface. If you want to create a device template with an extended set of sensors, you need to create a new template.
- Unfortunately, the device template will not work for certain sensors. The sensor that is not compatible to use in the device template has to be added manually.
You can find a list of sensors that are NOT device template compatible here:
