Linux file content sensor without SMB

Hello,

we are looking for a Linux file content monitoring. We want to search for a string like “error” in a file on a Linux server without SMB. The PRTG file sensor allow it only with SMB. Even the Linux Plugin from AutoMonX dont have this possibility. Do you know a possibility or a plugin to realise a file content sensor without SMB? Or is something like this planned for a future update?

Hi PEAC,

Thank you for your message.

If the files are accessible via the network (with Samba for example) then you can use the File Content sensor to monitor and search for a specific string. As of now, there aren't any known plugins for this purpose, and there are no plans in place for their development.


Alternatively, you can effectively execute a script with one of the SSH Script sensor:
