Why does the map show a big red X?

I am running version 8.1.0.1622 . I have put in my locations for my devices, however the Google map (for all devices) is a red "X" over a blank street map view and right below that is what I can only describe as a fuel gauge looking icon with the needle in the red.

Help please.
