Is there any way to keep the PRTG V7 icons under PRTG V8?

After upgrading to PRTG V8, we find we have a *very* strong preference towards the little indicator icons that were present in PRTG V7, over the new icons in V8. (These are the little green, yellow, blue, or red boxes that appear next to each sensor). The new V8 icons are, well, ugly. (Our personal opinion - other opinions may vary).

However, due to the significant change in appearance, it might be beneficial to give the user the option to use the old style icons if they prefer. (If such an option exists, and I looked, please point me towards it).

Besides looking less refined throughout the interface - they made our existing Maps look absolutely dreadful. All the little status icons, a green dot here, a red dot there, turned into the new, larger, blockier icons.

As a workaround, we restored a backup of PRTG V7, and stole it's webicons, and carefully injected them into PRTG V8. Most went smoothly. We had to copy the normal icons over the new Tall icons (and V7 had no tall icons), resulting is minor formatting errors, but overall, presented a much more pleasing appearance across the website. And of course, fixed the maps.

However, the Windows GUI remains a problem. We have as of yet found no externally replaceable icons. Before I crack the executable open with a resource editor (yes, we feel that strongly about the new icons) - is there any supported way, now or possibly in the future, to revert to the old style icons?

Thanks,

-Ken

There is currently no supported way to change the icons.

Replacing the icons, as you have already done, in the web interface works if you keep the sizes. Mark them as "Read-Only" to prevent a overwrite when you update.

For the Windows GUI a resource editor will not work since the images are not normal resources.

A official way to change the icons in the Windows GUI is unlikely.
