The Root group is created automatically with your PRTG installation. It is not possible to create more than one root.

However, PRTG's inheritance mechanism does not only work for the settings of the Root group, but for all other groups as well. Groups can also be nested into each other, so you should be able to configure your monitoring properly this way.

Is there a special reason why you want to create several Root groups?

I would like this feature. The reason I would would like to be able to do this is that one of our probes that can get the internet can check things like HTTP content, as well as certificate expiries etc. We have over 50 on one probe. As these types of sensor can only be on the probe device, it soon gets very messy. It would be great to be able to put certificates dates in one, HTTP in another etc

The only way is to abbreviate things in the sensor name, but even then, it still leaves things untidy, and a mahosive list.

For HTTP Sensors you can set them on "Dummy"-Devices, as they target the URL in their Settings. They do not need to be on the Probe Device.
