API | Channel Average Total

I am looking for a way to use an API and just get the channel total and average results, its this possible?

ei: sensor + start end date = channels totals and aver.

The articles suggested doesn't say how to extract just channel total and average for certain sensors which I would also like. Is this possible? I have tried using /api/historicdata_totals.xml but I cannot figure out how to get data for the 'total' channel only. Can it be done?

I'm afraid the average and total values would have to be calculated then from the data requested from the API. Unless you set the average to be the same as the entire period for the historic data request.
