Finding the OID of a sensor

Is there a way to determine the OID of an SNMP sensor?

That is, we are monitoring the traffic from a firewall and I want to know what OID the sensor is using.

Hello,

you can only check this with Wireshark I'm afraid. As PRTG checks several OIDs for a interface (traffic in/out counters, state, errors, etc.) and these may also change upon configuration-changes of the device, PRTG will not display an OID.

That makes little sense. Every SNMP based sensor knows which OIDs it is using (otherwise, how would it actually query the device?) - there is no reason it couldn't be displayed, e.g. in the Settings for the sensor.

Hello Pete,

If you want the OID visible in a sensor there is currently no feature implemented to achieve this.

If you want to have this as a feature added to our SNMP based sensors you can submit a feature request and our development will take a look if we can implement this.

Our native traffic sensors refer to the ifTable of the RFC1156 MIB file. The OIDs of these can be found here.
