It works, but if you want to use the PRTG Administration Tool in order to configure things not available in the GUI, you'll have to install the GUI role temporarily. Other than that, PRTG should do fine without the Windows GUI :)

link doesn't work. It says it's forbidden. Has support for server core editions made any progress since 5 years ago?

Hi there,
please try this link: https://kb.paessler.com/en/topic/87313-why-does-prtg-not-officially-support-windows-server-core-installations
We still don't officially support the Windows Core installation, which does not mean that it's not possible.

Hi there,
I was informed that the article is under review at the moment. I'm sorry for this.
I try to summarize the linked article: When you use a Windows Server installation in Core mode, there is no guarantee that all necessary Windows components are available for PRTG to run smoothly. Additionally, the Server Core option configuration can change unexpectedly so that PRTG might not work anymore. Since the have the Windows Core installation not in our testing at the moment, we cannot officially support it.
However, as I mentioned before, even this is not supported does not mean that this won't work. We have customers who using the Windows Core installation with PRTG.
