SQL Instance Name as a Device Property

Why is not the SQL Server Port configurable but the Instance Name property of the device? In my opinion, this would not only be an enormous relief to set up a sensor but also incomprehensible, since this property has the same importance as the port.

Hello Matthias,

The server port can be configured in "Credentials for Database Management Systems", this settings is inherited from the [[https://www.paessler.com/manuals/prtg/root_group_settingsroot group settings]] to all devices, unless you configure it otherwise in "Settings" of a group or only for a particular device in its "Settings" tab if required.

Moin Ja, der Port ist ein Attribut des Gerätes. Aber die Instanz ist ein Attribut des Sensors. Das macht überhaupt keinen Sinn. Erst die Kombination Server IP, Instanz Name und Port ergeben eine vollständige Information. So muss jedesmal und individuell die Instanz eingetragen werden, anstatt sie vom Gerät abzulesen. Ohnehin sollten diese Informationen über umgebungsbariablen verfügbar gemacht werden.

Im Übrigen werden die Datenbank Zugangsdaten doch auch am Geräte definiert, was ja auch sinnvoll ist.

Hallo Matthias,

Hm, ja, kann ich jetzt so wirklich nicht beurteilen, ob das Sinn macht, den Instanznamen in die DB Zugangsdaten aufzunehmen, ich würde empfehlen diesbezüglich einen Feature Request wie hier beschrieben einzukippen und darzustellen, wie das aus deiner Sicht besser gehandhabt werden könnte.
