Add ability to hide channels from graphs in maps

Votes:

I've discovered how to use the "hide" parameter to chart.png to hide specific channels from a graph. I would love to be able to use this when creating maps to be able to have some channels in one graph and other channels in a second graph. I don't see a way to do this currently. I envision it being an input field in the Properties section.

If the HIDE FROM GRAPHS option in the channel configuration of the sensor is not sufficient for you - you could e.g. add a BUSINESS PROCESS SENSOR - this sensor would allow you to grab only specific channels from this one sensor and you could then add this sensor to the MAP instead.

Of course, if you want a second map with the remaining channels of the sensor, you need a second BUSINESS PROCESS SENSOR.

Here the link to this sensors documentation: https://www.paessler.com/manuals/prtg/business_process_sensor

Hope it helps you :-) might be the support team has another idea.. but that's I think the quickest way to tackle this.

You could also build your own graph under Setup | API | Live Graphs, append username and passhash to the URL and embed it via the Custom HTML Element and and an <img> tag. I'd not use that for publicly available maps, since the passhash will be exposed in the image's URL. A bit tedious, but apart from using new sensors, the only way to do it :)

Those are both interesting and I will try them out. I don't think the custom graph in Stephan's answer is really what I want since usually I am making maps to be publicly accessible. The Business Processor Sensor looks more interesting, but does seem problematic in requiring multiple sensors to access what already exists in one of our sensors.

I still think it would be a lot more straightforward to make the map object configurable to select which channels to include. That's why I put it in as a product improvement suggestion. The basic functionality for this already seems to exist because of the "hide" parameter I mentioned in my original post.

HIDE FROM GRAPHS is definitely not what I'm looking for. I want to be able to include a channel in some graphs, but not in others.

That'll probably be something for the new map editor I guess :) It's on our roadmap for 2019/2020.
