Can i pause a selction of sensor's when 1 sensor is in error

We have a router, a dvr and a passenger info system setup in a bus wich we monitor via prtg. But we just want to get a error warning when the bus is active. We also have a ping sensor for the login system for the chauffeur.

We want to pause all sensors when the ping sensor of the login system of the chauffeur is in error( so when the bus is shut off)

So bus off, sensors pause. bus on sensors on.

Is this possible in some way.

Ps. we are trying to get a more stable sensor then the ping for the bus on /off trigger.

pause prtg sensor

In this case, it's recommended to create an "external" group with all the bus chauffeur devices, and put the others in the corresponding groups, something like this:

[g] Bus Availability
| |_[d] Bus #1
| |_[s] Chauffeur Login
|
[g] Busses
|_[g] Bus #1 ---> Depends on [d] Bus #1 - [s] Chauffeur Login
|__[d] CradlePoint Router
|__[d] Camera

That way, the entire bus #1 group will be paused, once the chauffeur login is not reachable for PRTG :)

Hi Ernst,

That's an interesting project, I must say! :) I assume that all Sensors reside on the same device that resemble the actual bus? If so, please open up the Settings tab of the Ping Sensor for the Chauffeur's login system and enable the option Show down (acknowledged) status on error in the Auto Acknowledge section. Additionally, in the Schedules, Dependencies, and Maintenance Window, select Master Object For Parent.

This way, once the chauffeur's login system is not pingable, the ...

  1. other sensors of the device will be paused, until the Ping Sensor comes back online
  2. Ping Sensor will be in the "Down (Acknowledged)" status, not sending any notifications

Is that what you're looking for?
