User Story

As a PRTG User, I want an easy way to secure the Windows polling user.

Details of User Story

Most monitoring tools need a domain administrator to get all data over WMI. Since this is a big security issue the only way to get around this would be to implement a local administrator on every server. The issue with the user is that he shares one password for every server. Here comes LAPS into the game:

With LAPS it's possible to generate random passwords for every server for a specific account which makes a takeover of the account harder.

Acceptance criteria

  • It should be possible for prtg to get the passwords from the LAPS service.
  • The setting can be inherited from the parent.
