User story

As a PRTG user, I want an option in the Netflowtype sensor settings to inherit the Sender IP Address from its parent device.

Details of user story

If I create a router device, I enter its IP address to make it easier to add sensors like Ping because they inherit that address. With Netflow sensors, the Sender IP Address must be entered manually. That means Netflow sensors can't be cloned to other router devices without adjusting their settings.

Often inheritance is inappropriate, as it might be sending flows from a different interface or coud have a parent device that isn't the sender, so it should be optional.

Acceptance criteria

  • Criterion #1 Netflow type sensors would have an "Inherit From" toggle for the Sender IP Address field.
  • Criterion #2 When toggled off, we would have to enter the IP address like we do now. When toggled on, it would inherit the address from the parent device.
  • Criterion #2 The default should be toggled off.
