User story

As a PRTG user, I want to monitor my new storage, an DELL EMC Powerstore however I came across an leak of options to monitor my new storage;

Details of user story

We have many Dell EMC Equipments being monitoring by PRTG with native sensors, like Unity and others being monitored by SNMP MIBS and many other options however that's not the case with Powerstore, we need to monitor our storage hardware health, free space, deduplication and we don't have a viable option

Acceptance criteria

  • Criterion #1 Basic sensors to monitor hardware health and space
  • Criterion #2 Advanced sensors to monitor functionalitys, just like Unity Sensors

Status

Open

We encounter the same Idea , as we used to have Equalogic, Unity, VNX and now Powerstores

I wouldnt count on PRTG for such Sensors soon , as they are hard to create or to maintain. And they would need the Hardware to "develop" the Sensors and test them upon them .

The Chances are slim, particular as you Request startet last Year and noone left an Information . ( Possiblily 0% ? )

If you need just one Sensore ( like Capacity ), it should be possible to use the REST Custom Sensor . but its routher a "Jugend Forscht" on the current Settings , therefor we didnt went that way.

There is a Github Project which export the Dump to Prometheus so that you have the Telemetry of all the Metrics in a very high Timescale ( 20Sec ) . That is very Imported as ( like us ) have a very high Load the TimeScale on the Powerstore or on the IQCloud is to large so that short peaks are simple not visible.

I would love see that PRTG is going in the diretion that other Product can be connected, and therefor the great handling of Notification could be used then from PRTG . Maybe something is coming up in the New FrontEnd, but Paessler signaled us that it doesnt has high Prio ( if ! )
