User story

As a PRTG user, I want to be able to add string values into the channel/s of SNMP Custom Table sensors as well as SNMP Custom Advanced sensors in order to lower the number of sensors used to identify stackable networking devices.

Details of user story

Creating SNMP Custom String sensors works very well with standalone devices, however, monitoring stackable network devices uses a lot more sensors lessening the number of sensors we have left in the bank before incurring extra costs. It would be great to incorporate string values into channels so that the stacked device information can be associated with a single sensor identifying that member in the stack.

Acceptance criteria

  • Should be possible to be added as a channel when adding the SNMP Custom Table.
  • Must also be able to add it in individually as a channel when adding an SNMP Custom Advanced sensor.
  • Thresholds for adding string values as a channel should work exactly the same way as when an SNMP Custom String sensor is added.
