Update Operating system of PRTG master server

Votes:

0

I need to migrate my PRTG master server (Windows server 2012) to another new server (Windows server 2022).

My architecture:

  1. PRTG master server with Windows server 2012, more than 500 sensors.
  2. 1 remote probe with Windows server 2022 server and,
  3. A second remote probe with windows server 2016.

What's the best way to do the migration?

Thanks in advance. Leo

Hi Jeremiah,

Thanks for the info.

I found those "How to.." articles, but I can't find information about what I should do with the remote probes, we have a lot of information on the remote probes, and I don't know what I should do during the migration of the PRTG master.

Regards Leo

Hi Jeremiah,

I don't want to migrate the probes to another server. What I need is:

  1. Migrate the master server to a new server.
  2. Connect the probes to the new master server

Can I do that?

Regards Leo

Hello Leo,

Yes you can do that, please check on Point "10" in this Knowledge Base article below for reconnecting the Remote Probes to the Core Server: https://kb.paessler.com/en/topic/88205-how-can-i-move-or-migrate-a-prtg-installation-to-a-different-system-or-server

You are required to do some adjustments if e.g the IP address of the Core Server changes during migration.

Kind Regards,
