WMI Intermittent Connection Errors

Connection could not be established (80010002: Call was canceled by the message filter) (code: PE015). It appears that you are experiencing some difficulties with WMI or related areas. For more information, please see our knowledge base: https://kb.paessler.com/en/topic/60153

For about a month now, this error has been appearing much more frequently. The Sensor has run fine for nearly a year, and now almost daily, multiple times a day, generates this error which in turn triggers notifications to my cell phone when it can't read hard drive free space. It happens to multiple sensors for multiple servers. Nothing has changed with the settings for this sensor since it was installed, and it always lasts for 49 to 51 minutes when it goes down.

It goes down in the evening, overnight, or during the daytime. There is no pattern to it. We are a pretty small setup - just 60 users across 7 locations, so I really doubt it is anything to do with server work load, especially since there is no one on the servers after 5pm when the office closes. Did something in a recent update of PRTG change the way the Free Space sensor works? Reduce it's timeout setting? Something else?

Dear jhsdurham,

Thank you very much for your knowledge base post.

As it will be necessary to review your Core Server's log files, please contact us directly using PRTG's built-in contact form.
Please refer to this knowledge base topic, the case will be assigned to me then.

Kind regards,
Sebastian
