User Story

As a PRTG User, I want better tracking of what actually happens within the webinterface.

Details of User Story

Please see here for the original discussion on this:

Several people have shown interest in a audit-log features / change tracking within PRTG that would do the following (in theory / further discussion might be needed) - bringing us to the following acceptance criteria.

Acceptance criteria

  • a PRTG web site / probably daily or weekly report that shows
  • entry date/time
  • user
  • IP (might be of interest)
  • group, device or sensor ID
  • whole path the object resides (originally)
  • change that occurred like (e.g.):
    • object renamed
    • limits adjusted
    • credentials changed
    • description / notes added
    • paused or resumed
    • inheritance changed
  • old value
  • new value

I'd love to vote for this feature but my 0 reputation won't allow me to.

I've been using PRTG heavily for years now. I have the 2500 sensor version (which I'd think that alone should be enough to allow me to upvote something). Just about all of those sensors are in use. I use PRTG daily even during non-work hours. I'm a strong advocate of PRTG on other forums. Constantly telling people it's worth the cost.

But despite being a heavy user who should hold a lot of weight when it comes to PRTG all of that means nothing because I don't post here enough to get my own upvotes. I rarely post here because due to every post having to be approved it's quicker and easier to get my answers from somewhere else.

I love the software - but the forum needs work.

@deniarb we're working on that, just need to test it internally :)
